The Association of American State Offices in Korea (ASOK) co-hosted the 2023 Doing Business in the US Seminar with Korea International Trade Association(KITA) and Korea-U.S. Economic Council (KUSEC) on October 17. The event was attended by approximately 100 Korean companies, local representatives of U.S. state/county offices, and officials from the USCS Korea. Kim (Commercial Officer, Second Secretary for Commerce)) ASOK's board members led by Chairman Jonathan Cleave and Vice-chair Hee Jung Shin met with Andrew Gately, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul last week. In the meeting, ASOK expressed their gratitude to Mr. Gately for accepting the position of ASOK Honorary Member and discussed future cooperation between the Association and the U.S. Department of Commerce.  

The Association of American State offices in Korea (ASOK) co-hosted a U.S. investment seminar with the Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea (FOMEK) on May 30, 2023.    ASOK and FOMEK signed an MOU to strengthen cooperation in support of Korean mid-sized companies’ U.S. investments.   The Association of American State offices in Korea (ASOK) held a Doing Business in the US seminar with the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) on October 4, 2022.    Over 50 companies participated in the event.   On June 15, 2022, ASOK signed a memorandum of understanding with MAKERSUNION and Korea Exhibition Company (KOECO) to jointly promote the International Virus & Bacteria Industry Expo (ViBac 2022). According to the MOU, ASOK will encourage the 19 states to participate in the 2022 International Industry Fair for Virus Bacteria and hold investment briefings for booth participating companies. The organizers plan to provide free booths and promote joint promotional activities. On May 24, 2022, the Association of American State Offices in Korea (ASOK) held a board meeting at Seolmajung, Seoul.  Ms. Hyun Sook Kim received an appreciation plaque from ASOK (Chair, Young Ho Seo) in recognition of her persistent and successful efforts to create business opportunities between the United States and South Korea. Ms. Hyun Sook Kim will retire from her position as the representative for the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina after 30 years dedicatedly working in her service period.  

  2022 GVC US Investment Seminar   On May 2, 2022 the US Embassy in Korea, KOTRA and ASOK held a 'GVC US Investment Seminar.'   During the seminar, each member state provided information on business strategies and opportunities in each state for Korean companies that are interested in looking to expand business into the U.S. A total of over 100 companies participated in the event.
